Canggu and Seminyak are now the best areas for nightlife in Bali. Below are the best bars and nightclubs there to party during your holiday:

Canggu Nightlife: Where to Party?
Canggu is a growing area that covers basically the north of Jalan Batu Belig (Kerobokan/Seminyak) up to Jalan Pererenan. It is popular with young foreigners in their early 20s to mid-thirties, including surfers, digital nomads, influencers, gap-year travelers, backpackers, and probably some rich kids with nothing else to do than partying.

Clubs, bars, cafés, and restaurants, are spread out along the main streets, and more particularly Jalan Batu Bolong, Jalan Pantai Berawa, Jalan Semat, Jalan Subak Sari, or Jalan Nelayan. Generally speaking, the closer you go from the beach, the more fancy/trendy the venues are.

The busiest party location in Canggu is certainly on Jalan Batu Bolong, near Old Man's.

It can take some time to go from one street to the other as the roads are still tiny and in bad condition. Most people drive a scooter or use online drivers (GoJek or Grab) to go from one place to the other. Luckily, there isn't much traffic at night so it's quite easy to go around. Also, there are still some rice fields, making the atmosphere much more enjoyable compared with Kuta, Legian or even Seminyak.

Nightlife in Canggu is constantly changing. The bars and clubs that are happening today will probably be gone within a year or two. Some venues are also only busy for just one weekly event (for instance Morabito on Fridays), or when they organize a special party. For this reason, don't hesitate to ask around for nightlife recommendations.

To stay up to date on the latest openings and events, I follow several Instagram accounts such as Beat MagazineThe CanggupediaBali Radar and Bali Chronicles.

At the time of writing, the happening bars and clubs in Canggu are the following:

An outdoor bar and club, only 100 meters away from Batu Bolong Beach, that gets busy almost daily with mostly young Europeans. Prices are low so they get many backpackers. Music is disco, pop, retro, electro, and anything that makes people dance.

Next to Old Man's, this is a beach bar with the dance floor on the beach. Same crowd and same music as Old Man's, it gets crowded more late so don't go too early. Cheap. Monday is the best day to go.

This is a huge Italian restaurant that serves authentic pizzas and pastas. They are famous for their parties on Monday (retro music). Expect to queue up to 1 hour to get in. Young crowd, similar to Old Man's.

New huge beach club which is popular with Indonesians from Jakarta especially. They have DJs playing EDM every night. The entrance costs IDR 150,000++ with a free alcoholic drink. Next to it, you can find Atlas Super Club, the biggest in Bali. Check their events as they often have famous guest DJs.

Another massive beach club and restaurant next to Atlas. Many Russians and Australians in their 30s and 40s. Expensive drinks but you can go there for free if you just stay at the bar. EDM music.

This is a hidden cocktail bar, in the back of the restaurant Mason's, that turns into a techno club at night. Busy on weekends, crowded mostly with Australians.

This large, modern, semi-open tavern serves its own brewed beer. It gets most busy on Friday night before 10pm, but it is nice to visit it during the day as well for drinking or eating (including their delicious BBQ Pork Ribs).

This is a weekly event every Friday in the luxury hotel Morabito Art Villas. Chic party with rich guests, almost all foreigners in their 30s or 40s. The music is generally deep house or electronic. The first drink charge is IDR 200k.

The type of minimalist nightclub that you would find in Berlin. It starts to get busy around midnight until 4am. The entrance fee for guys is 100k with a drink. Music is either techno or hip-hop.

The Shady Pig and The Shady Fox:
Speakeasies with live music and good cocktails.

Mexican restaurant with a happening Taco Tuesday night.

Another techno nightclub, opened in 2022.

Seminyak Nightlife: Where to Party?
Seminyak nightlife is still going strong, even though it probably isn't as trendy as it used to be.

The main party areas are Jalan Petitenget, Jalan Kayu Aya (Oberoi), and Jalan Camplung Tanduk (Dyana Pura). There are also many venues on the beach front which are more relaxed.

Here are the current hotspots:

Certainly the most crowded nightclub in Bali at the moment, it has 3 floors, with different DJs that play mostly Top 40, R'n'B, EDM, and Latin hits. They have a busy ladies' night on Wednesday where girls get free drinks and food while guys have to pay a first drink charge of IDR 150k. There are many prostitutes among the girls, though. Minimum spend to get a high table for 4 persons is IDR 2,5 millions.

La Favela, with its unique design and theme, is still hugely popular among tourists and locals. So popular that it actually causes traffic jams on Jalan Kayu Aya every night of the week.

Over the years, they have made the place even bigger, with several party areas, some indoors and some outdoors. It's a really fun and beautiful place to party and meet people. If you are new to Bali and you haven't been there, it should definitely be on your list.

The music is unfortunately terrible (just a playlist of famous songs with barely any transition between them) and the prices are quite expensive. On weekends, there is a room upstairs called Attika with better music (less mainstream).

An old favorite of Indonesian tourists, this nightclub is designed like a church. It's best to visit it with a group of people and to book a sofa/table. Dress well if you want to get in (no shorts, no sandals accepted).

Mexican-themed restaurant and bar, it is normally full each night of the week. Cheerful, laidback, with commercial party music. Many Indonesians and Australians in the crowd.

Other nightlife venues to try in Seminyak:
Red RubyDat Dash: Techno nightclubs
Bali Joe and Mixwell: Gay clubs
Who's Your Daddy: A happening party twice a week
Da Maria: Great party on Sunday nights in this upscale pizzeria
40 Thieves: Hidden bar on Petitenget, it is included in the list of Asia's Best Bars.
