DoubleTree by Hilton is a new 4-star hotel scheduled to open in May 2014. It is the second time the Hilton group ventures in the city. The group opened its first Hilton in Jakarta in 1976, but the hotel changed its name in 2006 after the 30-year management contract had expired. It is now called the Sultan Hotel.
DoubleTree will be located in Menteng, close to the CBD, close to Jalan Diponegoro with its numerous embassies and government offices. The hotel will have 253 rooms, which makes it rather small compared to other chain hotels in the city (usually 350 and more rooms). It is aimed to be a big convention hotel with several meeting rooms and a business center. Food-wise, there will be a fusion-style tapas restaurant: The Vicolo.

Menteng is getting a few nice new hotel openings in 2014, particularly with that of the Hermitage Hotel Menteng, along with Fraser Residence Menteng. The location is perfect in my sense, since you are very close from Thamrin and the CBD but you are in a more preserved area of Jakarta. In Menteng, you can sometimes feel that you are not in a gigantic city...
