Revolution Vodka Party Bar is supposed to be the new Red Square, which closed down over a year ago after the management of Senayan Arcadia decided not to renew their lease.
For those who don't remember, Red Square was one of Jakarta's best bars for expats. It was wild, packed with hot girls (many of which were prostitutes though), with usually good DJs playing a mix of commercial and underground music. I personally had a lot of fun there and I was sad when it closed.
I didn't really believe they would open again but they finally did. Revolution Vodka Party Bar is located in Lotte Avenue Mall, next to their sister Mexican restaurant Gonzo's Tex Mex Grill.
I only had a look when it was empty and I haven't had a party there yet. I'll write a complete review soon.
From the photos I've seen on their Facebook page (and that I'm posting here until I make my own), the interior design looks very similar to the old Red Square, with a long central table/podium, sofas in a corner and a DJ above the crowd. It is the same group of people behind it: Expat management (Paul Counihan, Yos Malelak) and mysterious Indonesian owners.
I'm pretty sure every expat in Jakarta will be curious to visit Revolution at least once. The big question is whether they will come back or not. The crowd of Red Square has moved to Dragonfly, Blowfish, Cloud or X2 and I'm not sure they are ready to change again.
They have some special nights. The most interesting is the ladies' night on Wednesdays. On that day, they have bikini dancers and girls get a free martini if they come before 12am.
